Radio Newscast Script (Draft)
Akfa: You're
tuned in to Teen Buzz FM
Radio them music starts to play...
Akfa: I'm
Akfa Basit...
Shazmin: And I'm Shazmin Akthar
Akfa: And
this is the hottest teen radio station that will leave you buzzing for more.
Music carries on...
Akfa: Today's
headlines are: Cyclist killed on Mile-end Road, Youth refused bail for assault
on local pensioners, slam dunk interview with paralympian star, and finally
fashion trends for you to follow this Christmas. So let's start off with
Shazmin with some serious news
Shazmin: Commuters were shocked to witness the
death of 25yr old cyclist Patrick Hickinson on Mile-end Road last night after
being hit by a lorry. Flowers have been laid out in the scene and many notes
have been written in his memory. One of them touchingly read, "Dad, I know
you are watching and I will never forget you". I went to Mile-end Road to
find out the views from the public on cyclist safety in London.
Recording starts to play...
Bike horn sound effect
Akfa: Thanks for that Shazmin.
Music continues...
Akfa: Now for our next story we go live to Bow
magistrates court with Teen Buzz roving reporter; Fahima Ferdaus
Fahima: Hi Akfa, I've just stepped out of the
court room here in Bow where a 19year old boy has been charged with assault after
physically assaulting an elderly man and woman on the streets of Bow. Although
the defendant pleaded not guilty, he failed to be granted bail as he has
previous assault convictions. This left the defendants mother in floods of
tears in the public gallery. PC Rashid was also present during this
hearing and has kindly agreed to talk to us at Teen Buzz FM.
So, do you think it was
the right decision not giving the defendant bail?
PC Rashid: Yes of course. He has committed similar
offences before, who's to say he won't do it again. People need to be punished
for their crimes.
Fahima: What sentence do you think
he'll receive?
PC Rashid: He will probably get off with a fine and a
few months of community service as neither of the victims was too badly
injured.
Fahima: Do you think young people
feel safe on the streets of Bow?
PC Rashid: Well Bow isn't really the most dangerous area in east London, I think if the youngsters go out together they should feel safe
Fahima: Do you think witnesses are scared to come forward?
PC Rashid: It has happened in certain cases where the witnesses have been threatened to silence but in this case I don't think there was time for that as police arrived at the scene as soon as they got the call. But if there are any witnesses, I would advise them to come forward

Victorious music starts to play...
Akfa: Right, let's shake it up with a bit of sports news. Live on the line we
have an interview call with basketball champion Adrian Francis, an athlete who
took part in the London 2012 Paralympics.
Adrian: Hello?
Akfa: Hi Adrian,
Can you just tell me a bit about yourself?
Adrian: Erm, I
trained in the Paralympics in 96 Atlanta
for Great Britain basketball team and we won a bronze medal.
Akfa: Do you think the 2012 games had more impact than previous years?
Adrian: Erm, I
would say the impact of the Paralympics was much more strong in the 2012 games
that just passed, like a lot of the numbers, we had considerably large numbers
at the 2012 games compared to the games previously.
Akfa: Okay, and what challenges did you face as a disable sports man?
Adrian: Erm,
challenges were, things like accessing the gym where i work for the gym at the
moment because things like accessing I was finding it quite difficult on
certain machinery.
Akfa: What advice would you give to disable youths to get out into sports?
Adrian: The main
thing is to always have a short term goal plan that you're going to want to
achieve and once you get that, you'll get to your long term goal.
Akfa: Thank you so much for speaking to us today at Teen Buzz FM.
Adrian: Cool take
care
Akfa: Okay, Thank you bye.
Music carries on...
Shazmin: Now, it's nearly Christmas and us girls need to start looking for fresh
new fashion trends that to make us feel and look good for the festive season.
Yesterday I went out to Westfield Stratford City to find out what's hot with
the shoppers.
Recording starts to
play...
Shazmin: So that's all for today folks.
Akfa: Join us again tomorrow same time same place on
Teen Buzz FM.
Shazmin: With me Shazmin Akthar...

My Soft News - Miley Cyrus In London!
For the soft news side of my newscast I luckily managed get to Radio 1 station in time to see the one and only miley cyrus and to my surprise she was fully clothed! I know its hard to believe isn't it? Well here's proof..
After a very long wait outside, her majesty Queen of Pop finally came out and I also managed to get a recording of the commotion for the radio newscast unfortunately i could't get her in the video.
The news values for this story is timelessness/currency as it is an event that has taken place quite recently.
It would also be seen as a prominence story as Miley Cyrus is a person in the public eye and people like to keep tabs on celebrities like her.
This story is relevant to my target audience: teenagers, because most of Miley's die hard fans are teens. These kids are constantly following her each and every act with the help of a social network known as TWITTER! This is probably how all the crazy fans found out about the event and landed straight out side of the station which made it really hard for me to get her on video.
