Well this is the news coverage of events that take place somewhere local to you which would probably not be of much interest to people of other localities. For example since I live in London, news stories from London would be local news to me like the case Ajmol Alom...
So now if anyone asks you 'what is local news?' You should be able to tell them exactly what it is, if not then you can always come back here and check.. or google it, what ever suits you best!
